What is pesto?

Pesto sauce is a recipe originally from Liguria, a simple combination of fresh basil, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts, garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil that never fails. The name “Pesto” comes from the Genoese word pesto, which means to pound or crush. This refers to the way the authentic sauce is prepared, with a mortar and pestle. Easy to use and, especially thanks to Orto D’Autore, as flavorful as homemade pesto sauce.

How can I use this vegan pesto?

Place a pot with water on the stove and bring to a boil. Only when the water boils, add the salt and throw in the pasta. Every 2 minutes or so stir the contents of the pot so that the pasta does not stick. After enough time has passed for the pasta to cook, then drain it and toss it with our delicious vegan pesto with shallot and pistachios!
